Ebook About Collects Moon Knight (1980) #5-23.Ghosts, werewolves and things that go crazy in the night! Marvel's multiple-personality midnight marauder takes the fight to the strangest rogues' gallery in all of comics — from Arsenal, the one-man army, to the nun with a crossbow known as Stained Glass Scarlet. The Jester is no joke, for either Moon Knight or Daredevil. Then there's Morpheus, who's guaranteed to give you sleepless nights. But the old foes are the worst: enemies like Midnight Man and Bushman, who have returned to plague Marc Spector. Or is he Steven Grant? Jake Lockley? As always with Moon Knight, the voices inside his head can be as destructive as the lunatics trying to kill him! Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz hit full stride in a super-hero comic like no other!Book Moon Knight Epic Collection: Shadows of the Moon (Moon Knight (1980-1984)) Review :
The second Moon Knight collection is a fine example of fast-paced super-hero action combined with complex characterization and well above average plotting. Moon Knight has moved beyond his start as a villain and his interlude as a supporting character and has now reached maturity as a fully developed concept. The concept is not totally original but is well executed. The former villain seeking redemption as a hero had been done before at Marvel but scripter Doug Moench shows that redemption comes with a very heavy price and Moon Knight struggles mightily paying that price.Another strength of this feature is the large and well used supporting cast. These include his girlfriend Marlene, pilot Frenchie, butler Samuels, and housekeeper Nedda who act as a staff to Moon Knight and share to varying extents his secrets. The other group works with him in his taxi driver Jake Lockley identity and congregate at Gena's diner and are ostensibly ignorant of Moon Knight's various identities. Homeless and elderly but well connected Crawley shines in this group. Guest appearances include Daredevil and Brother Voodoo. The plots are not always models of realism but are generally well executed. Some are standalone single issue gems like the first one, "Ghost Story" and "Stain Glass Scarlet". Others are multipart stories like the battles against Bushman and allies, Morpheus, and Nimrod Strange. There are also a few pre-Moon Knight Marc Spector flashback stories. The art is for the most part done by Bill Sienkiewicz. I didn't like him on New Mutants but his pencils work much better here matching the tone of the stories precisely. The continuity of the Moench/Sienkiewicz team is a big component of this collection's excellence although other writers and artists contribute. All in all this collection is wonderful value for the money. I encourage the prospective reader to buy the format which suits him; I bought the Kindle edition. This can be read on either the Kindle or Comixology ap. I prefer the latter for its superior navigation features but both provide an enjoyable reading experience. You do not really need the first collection to enjoy this one but I do recommend it as getting up to speed might be a little frustrating.Highly recommended. I look forward to the next one. This book served as my personal introduction to the character of Moon Knight. While it may be dated by the conventions of the comic code which was active in its initial run, it shows the promise of a character who is driven to effect justice while walking a tightrope of a fragile psyche. That sort of archetype almost always resonates well with me in drama, and I was happy to follow the journey of an often overlooked staple of the comic canon.
